Kia Scott is the founder and principal attorney at KSL, calling the Tri-County area home for nearly two decades. As a long-time resident of Montgomery, Alabama, Kia graduated from ASU in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with a focus on broadcast media.  Soon thereafter, she began her service to the community as a news anchor, producer, and advertising executive, working for local news affiliates WSFA, WAIQ, and WCOV. It didn't take many interviews before Kia knew that she wanted to be on the opposite end of the mic, effectuating much of the change of which she'd become accustomed to reporting, and in 2012, she was accepted to Faulkner Law as a scholarship recipient.

During her time at Faulkner Law, Kia's was awarded top paper in Advanced Topics in Family Law and was appointed to many leadership positions by the school's faculty and staff, including Dean's Fellow, and Law Review Editor. Further, she was named a trial advocacy and dispute resolution competitor, representing the school all over the nation in trial and mediation disputes. Kia was also elected to numerous leadership roles, including Vice President of the Black Law Student Association.

During law school, Kia interned for the Honorable Judge Wallace Capel, Jr, US Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Alabama, and the Honorable Judge Terri Bozeman Lovell of Alabama's 2nd Judicial Circuit. Kia has also clerked for Beasley Allen Law Firm, one of the fastest growing plaintiff's firms in the nation; the Alabama Office of the Attorney General, working on consumer fraud litigation; and the US Department of Veterans Affairs, assisting federal employees in internal and external disputes.

Today, Kia is a certified mediator and attorney, and an active member of several legal associations. As a mom and wife, Kia has a heart for families and a passion for resolutions. She understands that a family’s need for an attorney often comes during some of the most tumultuous times. She strives to lessen the grey area, "Because LIFE ISN'T Always BLACK&WHITE."
